Horizon 2020 - ICT 2018-2020 Work Programme Pre-published

The European Commission has pre-published the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) 2018-2020 work programme part.

The adoption and final publication of the 2018-2020 Work Programme is expected by the end of October 2017. The European Commission is expected to pre-publish most of the 2018-2020 work programme parts in the next few weeks and we will provide articles on UiS intranet to highlight the drafts as soon as they become available.

The European Commission has made the ICT 2018-2020 work programme part public before its formal adoption, in order to provide potential participants with early information on up-coming calls. As it has still not been officially adopted or endorsed by the Commission, information and topic descriptions indicated may not appear in the final Work Programme.

Main highlights of the ICT 2018-2020 work programme part:

The 2018-2020 ICT work programme part will support core ICT industries through roadmap-based Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), focusing on key areas such as electronics, photonics, embedded systems, computing, robotics and big data or network technologies and systems, with the ECSEL Joint Undertaking on electronic components and systems being a cornerstone of this strategy.
Key focus areas of calls include: Technologies for Digitising European Industry, 5G, Next Generation Internet, HPC, Big Data and Cloud technologies as well as Cybersecurity.
Security remains a key goal through both dedicated activities as well as being a topic of consideration throughout ICT research and innovation areas.
The 2018-2020 ICT work programme features a strong international dimension with joint calls on ICT activities planned with Japan and South Korea as well as dedicated twining activities on 5G with China and Taiwan and additional support actions towards improved cooperation with the US on 5G and Next Generation Internet.
Calls will begin to open on 31 October 2017 and the first call deadline is on 17 April 2018.
