Horizon 2020


Horizon 2020 (H2020) is the biggest EU funding programme for research and innovation. It covers the period from 2014 to 2020. The overall budget of H2020 is almost €80 billion.

H2020 is the EUs tool for implementing its policy, supporting and stimulating smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and jobs.

Research and innovation lies at the heart of H2020 at is focused around three areas: excellent science, industrial leadership and societal challenges.

H2020 is run on the basis of the multi-annual Work Programmes. The third Work Programme was announced in October 2017 and covers the period from 2018 to 2020. Work Programmes for the year 2020 include not only the old topics of the H2020 but also the new ones, in an effort to bridge H2020 Work Programme with the successor framework programme.
