FUNDING! 1.2 billion NOK available for innovation projects

Are you a researcher with an innovation project involving industry partners and / or public sector? Then your project can be eligible for innovation funding from The Research Council of Norway (RCN). This fall, more than 1 billion NOK is earmarked innovative industry projects, while 125 million NOK is earmarked innovative public sector projects.

This year the RCN has one joint deadline October 10th 2018 for all innovation projects in industry or public sector. Innovation projects at RCN are quite different from researcher projects, so we advise you to start planning and writing the proposal with your partners now if your group aim to submit a proposal this fall. The proposal must be submitted by the industry or public sector collaborator and the research institution (UiS) will be a partner in the application. Also consider the opportunity to submit a draft prior to the submission of your proposal. Find more information, links and deadlines for the drafts, industry projects and public sector projects below.

To advise applicants, facilitate cross-disciplinary projects and ensure your proposal ends up with the most suitable evaluators, the RCN has opened up for submitting drafts prior to the call deadline.

We highly recommend taking this opportunity to have your innovation project pre-evaluated by the RCN. You will get valuable feedback regarding your project in light of the requirements for innovation projects. They will also advise you on which program to submit your proposal if your project has interdisciplinary elements.

INNOSKISSE deadlines:
29.08.18 (industry projects)
30.08.18 (public sector projects)

RCN recently launched new calls for innovation projects addressing the 17 sustainable development goals of UN and themed into the following nine main areas:

• Marine-based industries
• Energy and low emissions
• Petroleum
• Food and biobased industries
• Nanotechnology and advanced materials
• Health
• Industry and services
• ICT and digitalisation

For industry projects, the industry partner is the main applicant and a research institution can be a partner in the project. The RCN will cover up to 50% of the project costs.
Read more about industry innovation projects here and find the call to suit your project by scrolling down in this link.

For innovation projects that are not well fitted into any of the calls described in the link above, the RCN has an additional innovation program for the industry: Programme for User-driven Research-based Innovation (BIA)

Within public sector, the RCN is calling for innovative projects within the four programmes HELSEVEL, FINNUT, TRANSPORT and FORKOMMUNE.

For public sector projects, the kommune, fylkeskommune or government enterprise is the main applicant and a research institution can be a partner in the project. The RCN will cover up tp 75% (kommune) or 50% (government) of the total costs in the project.

Calls are in the links above. You can read more general info about public sector projects here and here.

If you have any questions regarding these calls, please contact Kristin Aaser Lunde at The Research and Innovation Department.
