Invitation to talks: petroleum, environment and climate change


Staff and students at the University are this week invited to a series of talks offered by Profs. Baysarovych and Paul Nadeau (UiS) within the area of petroleum, environment and climate change.

HYDROGEOLOGY, ENERGY & CLIMATE CHANGE

As part of a Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU)-project the University of Stavanger has a cooperation with the Taras Schevchenko National University of Kiev in the area of geosciences.

Professor Iryna Baysarovych, hydrogeologist at Taras Schevchenko National University of Kiev, will be visiting UiS from April 11 to April 13.

We would like to invite staff and students at the University for a series of talks offered by Profs. Baysarovych and Paul Nadeau (UiS) within the area of petroleum, environment and climate change

Program:

Wednesday April 11, 11:00 to 13:00:

1. Groundwater as agent and indicator of the creation and destruction of hydrocarbon deposits (Iryna Baysarovych) 2. Rock-water Geochemistry in Hydrocarbon Reservoirs and applications to Increased Oil Recovery operations (Paul Nadeau)

Thursday April 12, 11:00 to 13:00:

1. Variety and manifestations of crude oil pollution processes in the environment. (Iryna Baysarovych) 2. US Shale Energy Revolution, Impact on Power Systems, Environmental Benefits, and Wealth Creation (Paul Nadeau)

Friday April 13, 12:30 to 14:30:

1. Natural and anthropogenic hydrocarbon “flows” and their relation to climate change.(Iryna Baysarovych) 2. Uplifted Arctic Margins: Consequences for Barents Sea Exploration & Global Climate Shift (Paul Nadeau)

 

All talks are in room KA AUD 1. Pizza will be served Wednesday and Thursday from 11:45 to 12:15. On Friday there will be coffee and snacks from 13:15 to 13:45.
