Are you planning to apply for FRIPRO in the category «Young research talent»?

The Research and Innovation department at UiS offers an application program, PRE-FRIPRO, throughout the spring to support you in the process. The program will include seminars and workshops and you will get feedback on your proposal drafts. Finally, Peter Dukes from the British Medical Research Council will have a two day application seminar including a mock-review of some of the UiS proposals at the 16-17th of April.

Outline of the application program.

The main theme throughout the program will be: “What characterize a good application?” The program consist of three parts: first an introduction seminar/workshop where we work through the main parts of the research council’s project description template and assessment criteria. In addition we will discuss already evaluated UiS proposals. Secondly, participants will present their projects in a workshop in mid-March. Finally, attending the application program will guarantee you access to a two day workshop with Peter Dukes from the British medical research council (16-17 April). Here we will focus on the review process, and it will be possible to get feedback on your proposal.

FRIPRO is Norway’s largest program for independent research, and allocated more than 1 billion NOK to 159 research projects in 2014. Because the main criterion for achieving a FRIPRO grant is scientific merit, it is also prestige associated with this grant. The category “young research talent” was introduced in 2013 to stimulate young eminent research talents. The competition is hard also in this category, but UiS' own program TOPPFORSK, enhances the chances to succeed in this category.
