Fulbright - extended application deadline!

Due to a lack of applications, the Fulbright Foundation has decided to extend the application deadline for the 2015-16 Norwegian Arctic Chair award, from October 1 to November 15, 2014.

For the 2015-2016 year, the grant will be offered to Norwegian scholars with a Ph.D. in Arctic Biology, Arctic Geology, Arctic Geophysics, Arctic Technology, or a closely related field focusing on polar and High North issues. Applicants must be Norwegian citizens, have a minimum of 5-10 years of experience, and may apply for an Arctic Chair grant to any accredited U.S. university.

One award is given to a Norwegian Arctic researcher each year. Although Fulbright Arctic Chair funding will be offered for a maximum of four months, the grantee may stay beyond the 4-month grant period.

Terms of this grant include:

  1. Maintenance grant of NOK 200.000,- for 3-4 months. This amount will cover maintenance and housing for the grantee in the U.S. There is no financial support for dependents but family members may accompany grantee.
  2. Allowance of NOK 25.000,- for round-trip international travel, including excess baggage allowance, shipping costs, etc for grantee only.

Details about the award can be found on this page.
