Remember to sign up! Get your research out - how to cope with social and conventional media

The Strategy and Communication Department invites all PhD candidates at UiS to the yearly communication seminar “Get your research out – how to cope with social and conventional media”.

For a researcher it is an important skill to be able to communicate your science to a variety of audiences using both conventional and social media. Raising your visibility by highlighting your research can get you recognized by peers and strengthen your position as an academic. It is also an important platform for making your research available to the public.

This spring, all UiS doctoral candidates are invited to the communication seminar Get your research out – how to cope with social and conventional media.

The seminar will take place on the 29th of May, at room AR V-209 in Arne Rettedals hus from 09.00-12.00, and will cover the following topics:

  • Research communication – why and how to do it

  • How the media thinks – and how to approach it

  • How to use social media to communicate your research

  • Other channels, platforms and genres you can use in your outreach

  • Workshop: How can you communicate your project?

The seminar is free of charge, and will be lead by Leiv Gunnar Lie and colleagues from the Strategy and Communication department. You will receive individual coaching during the workshop.

Please sign up by sending an e-mail to: Lene Myhren before the 12th of May. Include a brief description of you PhD project (just a couple of sentences), and approximately when your thesis is due.

This event demands quite a lot of resources from the communication department, and the registration is therefore binding.

Kind regards,

The Strategy and Communication Department & the Research and Innovation Department
