Invitation to participate: EMERGING LEADERS

Future activities and operations in the Arctic call for a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges to ensure sustainable development. The Emerging Leaders asks for young professionals and PhD/ Post Doc students to meet with representatives from academia, business and the public sector through a thrilling 7 day program.

The Emerging Leaders will take place from 15th to 21st January 2014. Selected candidates will participate in a blend of technical, social and cultural events accompanied by mentors from business, politics and academia. The program starts in the city of Bodø, then continues onboard the coastal steamer and ends in Tromsø, the gateway to the Arctic. A two days stop will be made at Svolvær to explore the marine resources and potential in the Lofoten region, and to blend in with the local history and culture of the region. The participants will be invited to give a plenary presentation at the Arctic Frontiers 2014 conference.

The content of the program is based on the Arctic Frontiers 2014 (www.arcticfrontiers.com) conference topic "Humans in the Arctic" and includes the following sessions:
Session 1 Politics and security in the High North
Session 2 Health, environment and society
Session 3 Maritime operational challenges in the Arctic
