In need of funding for research infrastructure? Important deadline May 15th

Funding for research infrastructure is now available through the INFRASTRUKTUR call from The Research Council of Norway (RCN). RCN will fund infrastructure from 2 – 200 mnok for infrastructure of national character that will give Norwegian research communities access to relevant, up-to-date infrastructure that supports high-quality research and innovation. A mandatory outline must be submitted by 15th of May 2018.

The objective of the initiative is to;

  • give Norwegian research communities access to relevant, up-to-date infrastructure that supports high-quality research and innovation, which in turn will help to solve the knowledge challenges facing society
  • enhance and coordinate national research infrastructure in areas in which Norway has dynamic research communities
  • optimise utilisation of infrastructures and make them accessible for external users
  • provide Norwegian research communities with outstanding research infrastructure that will help to make them attractive as partners in international research and innovation projects, ensure recruitment of top researchers and motivate students to pursue a career as a researcher
  • provide support for Norwegian participation in future international research infrastructures

In general, funding may be sought for the following:

  • establishment and/or upgrades of all types of research infrastructures of national importance as defined in the strategy document “Tools for Research – Part I: National Strategy for Research Infrastructure 2018‒2025)” (to be published in March 2018)
  • coordination and adaptation of shared services based on existing research infrastructures
  • upgrade or expansion of existing infrastructures of national importance
